We are thrilled to announce that Attane Health has been chosen to serve as a subject matter expert for the Coding4Food Project! This prestigious selection recognizes Attane Health’s unparalleled expertise and dedication in the realm of healthcare and personalized nutrition care.
In healthcare, accurate coding is pivotal for billing, tracking patient journeys, and assessing outcomes. However, as healthcare innovations evolve, there is a pressing need for new codes to reflect emerging care interventions. Despite growing interest in integrating Food is Medicine interventions into healthcare systems, there’s a significant lack of adequate codes to document and bill for these interventions.
To address this gap, the Coding4Food (C4F) initiative was launched. Its primary aim is to develop new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes that seamlessly integrate Food is Medicine interventions into healthcare. This includes services such as medically tailored meals and groceries, medically supportive meals and groceries, pantry stocking, food pharmacies, and produce prescriptions.
Attane Health’s selection as a subject matter expert for the medically tailored groceries workgroup underscores our deep knowledge and leadership in this domain. Through our participation, Attane Health will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of HCPCS codes that accurately reflect and facilitate the integration of Food is Medicine interventions into healthcare billing and documentation practices.
This collaboration between Attane Health and the Coding4Food Project holds immense promise for advancing healthcare delivery. By establishing comprehensive coding frameworks for Food is Medicine interventions, we aim to enhance patient care, improve outcomes, and foster greater integration of nutrition-based approaches within the healthcare system.
We look forward to the transformative impact and are eager to contribute to the Coding4Food Project!
Stay tuned for further updates as we embark on this groundbreaking journey together.
